The CAN-AMR-Net Trainee Scholarship supports outstanding graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who engage in AMR research across diverse disciplines.
This scholarship provides $10,000 for graduate students and $20,000 for postdoctoral fellows recognizing academic excellence, transdisciplinary research, and commitment to AMR research across human, animal, and environmental health –One Health– sectors.
This year’s scholarship application consists of two required steps:
The CAN-AMR-Net eJournal Club is a monthly, Canada-wide virtual series designed exclusively for CAN-AMR-Net trainees. It is part of Theme 2: Transdisciplinary Training and Career Readiness.
Each session explores diverse topics in AMR, including policy, genomics, epidemiology, cellular mechanisms, and clinical science.
Sessions are led by trainee subject-matter experts who present a research paper from their field and facilitate an interactive discussion. Conversations focus on key findings, methodological strengths and limitations, and broader implications for AMR research and practice.
Papers are shared with participants in advance (early in the week prior to each session), and attendees are expected to come prepared to engage in discussion.
The eJournal Club will be held monthly on Thursdays from 1:00–2:00 PM (ET).

The Zoonoses, AMR, and BioInformatics (ZAMBI) meeting brings together cross-disciplinary researchers and trainees working at the intersection of AMR, emerging zoonotic diseases, and computational biology to share their research and develop new cross-cutting One Health skills.
This meeting is a joint effort of three CIHR Health Research Training Platforms: CAN-AMR-NET, Canopy, and the Canadian Bioinformatics Hub’s Atlantic Node.

The CAN-AMR-Net travel support provides financial assistance to cover expenses to outstanding trainees (graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and research staff) who engage in AMR research across diverse disciplines, to attend and present their work at CAN-AMR-Net affiliated events
Limit per trainee: Each CAN-AMR-Net trainee is eligible for a maximum of two travel supports throughout the CAN-AMR-Net funding period (2024–2030):
one event within the province of their institution and one event outside the province.
There is currently no travel funding available at this point. The next available travel support opportunity will be for the ARM Symposium powered by Biomérieux, taking place in November 2026.

The AMR: A One Health Approach Seminar Series brings together experts from diverse disciplines to explore issues pertaining to AMR, promote transdisciplinary training, and offer practical strategies to combat AMR on all fronts and a One Health perspective.
